Ok question for you guys. i need to get access to the top of the fuel tank for my new fuel system. Do you think it is easier to drop the tank or to lift the bed. i was set to drop the tank, but i had a buddy who is a ford mechanic tell me that the quickest way to change one of their in tank (gasser) pumps was to just unbolt the bed and tilt it up to gain access to the tank. He said he imagined it would be the same on my truck. I need to have enough room to punch a hole in the top for my new pick up and return lines. what do you think

The bed is easy to remove, I think 8 bolts, and the tailights, fuel nozzle bolts, and 4 freinds to help lift. I had mine off, its not a big job at all, like 20 min.

Tilting the bed up either towards the drivers side or back is easy, just remove the bolts on the lift side and loosen on the pivot side. Floor jack and some blocks. Remove the fuel fill and vent hoses, on 3500s marker light wiring may need to be unplugged. Makes a great mouse trap, use a 2x4 support to keep from getting caught.

New Fuel System?

I've gotta see this floppyneck!

My vote, remove the bed.

It's about eight bolts, taillight connectors, fillerneck.

Yup HVAC you heard it man, gonna get the full "Suttonization" (I trademarked that phrase man dont steal it:D :D ) With a few minor mods, but for the most part the fuel system budget just got real real ugly;)

I like the idea of tilting the bed, it will all depend on how the back is feeling when the time comes to fire up the torch, break out the welder and make a real mess:p

See if you had one of these, it you would have been done by now. :D

Later, Rob
