I take my 05 2500 in to the Dodge dealer next week for the airbag recall. They said they have to program something into the ECM. Is there any chance of them screwing something up? Thanks.

They didn't on mine from what I recall.
Anyways is the Airbag a separat computer that isn't within the ECM, so I think there is no risk to mess up anything here.

Anyway you might want to ask the guy if there are any Updates available for the truck, you maybe get them for free on this occasion.
I remember that the 05 was plagued with software problems in the beginning.

Follow-up: I took the truck in to the dealership yesterday and they had two recalls to conduct. In addition to the airbag recall, there was a shifter lever recall. The shifter lever recall was the only one that needed access to the ecm. Well, after they did the airbag one, they came out and told me they could not access the ecm with their computer, so could not do that one. They said I had to take it to a different dealer. ANYWAY, I am perfectly fine with it in the long run. My shifter works great and they didn't get into my ecm to (potentially) mess up anything. And he did tell me it might activate the horn blowing in reverse BS.

I did find out this morning that I do have one problem: my heater blend door control is messed up now, probably from them disconnecting the batteries. When in the COLD position it is cold, when it's in the HOT position it is cold, but halfway it puts out heat. I assume it just needs calibrated.

Did they tell you their DRB III system has a bad cable and one cannot be obtained? I've heard that story from two different dealers so far. If it were me, I'd be looking for someone with expertise in repairing cables and connectors like that and getting it fixed, but they simply use it as an excuse to turn down the work.

From what I know it needs the red cable and not all of them have that anymore.
Most dealers now do with WiTech and the emulator.
DRB III is really gone from the workshops now.

No, they never mentioned that. Happy it wasn’t done anyway.

Following up, the heat issue was caused by them installing the arm on the blend door backwards. I was able to get under the dash and fix it myself. Works great now!

Both of the dealers had DRB III, both said their cables were bad, and they could not obtain them. I don't think they tried. I wanted to get an update done after I installed the in tank fuel pump, I think it just changes the model number of the engine in the computer since the lift pump is removed. The instructions are in the installation instructions for the pump kit and extremely explicit, push this, look for that, do this, etc.

Today I searched........... found this. I'm going to print this off and go by to see the dealer that attempted to do the job until the mechanic (who knew what he was doing) quit and said the cable was bad. The shop manager was real nice guy, but I'm wondering what drives them to not want business.
