Accident Report

I finally got a chance to talk a bit with Kim about her Bad Morning accident. The truck is not totalled! She'll get it back around Christmas.



Her trucks are hand-me-downs from an uncle that runs a fleet. She doesn't always get to pick the configurations. Her next CTD is going to be a manual with an e-brake. The one she was driving is an automatic.



She's aware of the hydroplaning problem, especially with empty duallies and that's pretty much her analysis of the accident. I left the speed issue alone and didn't get into tires at all. I don't think she was running narrow ones for snow, it was too early in the year to swap in our climate. It was raining, she'd be much more likely to be dealing with mud that day.



So, she hauled a load of stuff to an event, unloaded in the rain and went for a cup of coffee. Heading down hill on wet roads, she lost traction and slid into another car. I carry a thermos of coffee so I don't have to go buy it.

well jean---i am NOT a monday morning QB so the important thing is that Kim wasn't hurt --just bruised and a bruised ego if i remember correctly. and you too are more than welcome to head north in the spring to any of our NETDR get-togethers.

A note about the rear antilock on our trucks -



It stops working at low speeds on our trucks, I dunno why but that's the way it comes from the factory.



At low speeds the rear wheels will lock up and it feels like there is no more brake available, but if you push the pedal harder the fronts will brake harder before they lockup also.
