Does anyone know what the "active" ingredient(s) is in products like: Amalgamated, Power Service, Stanadyne, etc. ? Is it "petroleum distillates", toluene, acetone, another solvent? The ratio advised in the linked article for a diesel is 2 oz acetone per 10 gal fuel. Power Service would compare at 2 oz PS per ~6 gal fuel (96 oz container "treats" 300 gal diesel fuel).

Acetone is pretty a pretty aggressive solvent. Even this guy's web page says concentrated acetone degrades o-rings (and probably fuel hoses). He says this isn't a problem inside a month or two as long as the acetone is diluted but I'm worried about my fuel system holding up for a few (or 10) years. I put some various rubber parts in acetone and it affected all of them. I'd say bad idea.
