Kerosene VS. No #2 Diesel????

I use acetone alot at work, it's excellent for cleaning oil or grease off of parts, it cut's like a degreaser... after seeing how it does this there is no way I would chance it breaking down the lubricity of my fuel...

I'd try it in a gasser thou...

after reading some threads on acetone in fuel, it looks like there is more than enough information/testing to support the claims of increasing mpg. acetone is used in such small amounts that it does not effect engine parts or seals in a negative way. with the price of fuel being what it is i will be doing everything i can to lower my fuel cost. while increasing mpg it also seems to have other good side effects.

someone said one gal is around 12 or so. going by the chart it looks like 1 to 3 oz per 10 gal is what they recommend.

Don't know about diesel fuel, but I use it all the time in my 1500 gasser at the 1 oz to 10 gal gas. I consistently log 15-20% increase in mileage depending on if it is city or interstate time.

According the the internet research I found, acetone in small quantities easier to vaporize and mix with the air better. I can't vouch for the chemistry but I can vouch for the results I log. Not sure I would add it to my CTD's diesel fuel due to the lubrication diesel fuel adds to the injection pump and cylinders. It seems that there a a lot of guys on the board adding oils of various types to their diesel fuel with the intention of prolonging the life of the fuel system - I would not want to take a chance of adding even a small amount of anything that would "thin the mix".

I've tried it a few times in both the Dodge and the Jetta. Mileage did go up somewhat in both rigs.

Don't know what it's doing. . but it seems to work. As to the amount, it's just a couple tablespoons full in the Jetta (like 1. 6 oz to a 16 gallon tank) so I don't think it can do much damage.

My problem with it was it's a PITA to measure out add the right amount each time you fill-up (1. 2 oz's to 12 gallons... . 8 oz's to 8 gallons etc. ). Also. . even at these small ratio's I don't think it pays for itself. The mileage gains weren't that great.
