yeah well i was trying to show off for some buddies... isnt that the way it happens most of the time? I was backing out of a parking space and while still rolling backward tried to go to 2nd gear, instead i hit 4th and while letting out on the clutch at about 25-2800 rpms, i got all the way out on the clutch for 3 or four seconds and i think the rpms redlined. all while sitting still in 4th gear, truck has about 65000 miles on it, only mod is an EZ, is the clutch going to slip every time i have it under load? and most importantly, how long is that smell gonna be stuck to my truck?

I smoked my clutch pulling a Ford hooked to a boat trailer out of a river. The next week I was pulling my boat down the road and the second hill the clutch was history. VA box with 12000 boat and trailer with smoked clutch = walking. A friend with another Dodge pulled my truck home and another buddy with a DMAX pulled the boat home.

:-laf :-laf Oh man does this sound familiar! I smoked mine bad pulling a sled. They said it white smoked off the line and I stayed in it for 300 plus feet! Drove it home 30 plus miles , the next day drove it 160 miles interstate, the next day pulled a 4k boat back 160 miles. It stank for about a week. Just take it real easy for about a week, let the glaze wear off, and maybe you will get lucky like I was! :D 5000 miles and not a slip since even layed rubber today! :--)

Stock clutches usually heal pretty well. You should be fine. The smell on the other hand, that'll be with you for a week..... maybe longer if the windows were open :-laf

I smoked mine fairly bad around 65,000 miles with only an EZ, its got over 125,000 now with 275s since about 85,000 and hasn't slipped once since then. I think a lot depends on how you drive it, good luck.
