Since there's no real practical reasons for me to commute is something that weight almost 7,000 lbs, the Ram sits in the garage most of the week waiting for a weekend trip at HD to pickup yard stuff or towing motorcycles to the race track.

I started putting it on a battery tender to avoid them discharging which it the worse thing you can do to a lead acid battery.

Tonight I added a permanent connector in the driver side wheel well so there's no wire dangling and I don't have to open the hood every time.

I fund it on Amazon: OptiMate CABLE O-20 Weatherproof SAE socket, front panel mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031BOTFC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_5ZsUxb9YP9AWS

I thought I'd share a couple of pictures. It's completely waterproof and requires drilling a 1 inch hole.

I like that idea. I know you said you put it on the drivers side. If you put the charger on one battery will it charge both at the same time?

Yes it does. The batteries are in parallel so they both get charged

The reason I put it on the driver side is cuz the turbo and the oil filter is on the passenger side so on the driver side is out of the way.

Nice find and nice work...my only concern is how easy it is to remove the connector along with the wheel well liner in case of need to access that side of the motor...MANY times I have found that pulling the liner very much facilitates access to repair, particularly on that side of the engine.

Super easy. I didn't include pics of the battery side, but basically you have the ring stile connector that comes with any battery charger. You simply disconnect it from the panel mount. If you look at the first pictures it will make sense: the panel mount socket has a wire that connects to the wire with the ring connector, not directly to the battery.

Thanks for clarifying...that makes it a perfect and useful modification!!!

What battery tender are you using? My truck is no longer my daily driver, looking to do something to keep the batteries in good shape between starts.

After commuting for 300K (and survived) in a VW Diesel PU I decided no matter the cost I would always drive a full sized truck or my Wife's Tahoe.

I mean how could I not drive this BEAUTY ???
