After looking under the dash of my new 2006 3500, I was wondering if anyone here can tell me where I can pick up 12 volts to power my Garmin 7200 GPS? The power plug it comes with is ugly and I want to hard wire it in. I understand from earlier posts that all circuits are computer controlled and you can just splice into one. So, Is there a Aux circuit for adding equipment?

Another option is to go to Wal Mart and buy a cigarette lighter and wire it somewhere hidden and run the cord from your GPS to the hidden cigarette lighter. That's what I did on one of my Sirius receiver's in my last truck. Good luck...

The Cig lighter is probably easiest/cleanest place. Passenger side has power at all times and driver side is switched with the ignition. I think they use 20A fuses so you shouldn't have any problems powering a GPS off of it. I recently installed an indash system and decided to run the TV tuner power off the power seat wiring instead, but only because the tuner came with a 10A fuse and I didn't want to push my luck using the Cig lighter circuit (already being used for the Ipod and backup cam modules).
