knowing that these injectors might be sensitive to grime has anyone thought about adding secondary fuel filter when doing an additional lift pump and larger fuel lines.

I have definetly considered adding a second filter. I figure someone will come along with a kit to do so within a year or so.

CATCRACKER:

You might look at Raycor. I installed one on my 97 and it worked great. I mounted it to the frame after the fuel tank and before the lift pump. I just had to get the proper fittings and cut the fuel supply line and put it in.

Just a note - watch for the filters flow rating.

Those of us running aftermarket lift pumps or pusher pumps exceed the rating on most pre-filters.

Some pumps say not to use a filter on the inlet side.

The thing about the FASS is it includes an auxillary lift pump. On the 3rd gen engines I don't think lift pump failure is a concern, so the extra pump might be a waste of money. On the other hand, a second pump might be required to overcome the flow restriction associated with a secondary filter.

Given the sensitivity of these injectors to contaminants, I am extremely interested in a 2-micron or less auxillary filter arrangement to be mounted before the factory filter. The FASS website doesn't seem to mention the particle size it filters...

for those of us who will be demanding more fuel than stock config allows we need a 2micron high flow filter that will be inline with the larger fuel lines and pusher pump. duramax guys are using large CAT filters. these are the same guys that have the 225hp boxes:--) so they will hadle alot of fuel this may be the way to go?

Talk to Brad about High HP

As I remember his rig was in the 600+ hp so there is no problem with the HP and the FASS system.
