I just had the DTT Valve Body installed at Custom Truck in Yuba City Ca. Must say I am impressed by the change in shifting of the transmission. Much more positive.

Have a question for those experts out there. I have an EZ now and want to install DD II's. Without the TC from DTT, won't be able to get this for probably another year, and I have access to a pair of DD II's cheap, will my transmission handle the power. I have EGT, transmission temp and Boost guages.

can you say "Horsepower"

your transmission will be toast in short order

especially towing 10k trailer

If the valvebody is set up for that kind of power you can put the DD2's in. If the valvebody is not set up for them you will be able to slip the trans and it will die in short order. You will not get all of the power they make to the ground though. The other concern is that the power you will be making will allow you to generate that much more heat in the transmission that much faster. The trans temp guage is something you will want to watch very closely of you add the 2's. If the line pressure is up go for it. Then get the convertor to get that power down when finances allow. Call Bill for what exactly you need to run the 2's for pressures and set points.

I did tell them that I would be putting in more power later and to set the Valve body up for the 89% TC. With the fluid pressure increased I was wondering if this was enough to handle the DD II's or if I should go with smaller injectors. By the way according to the tech I haven't toasted it yet, no filings, burn't fluid etc. I will definitely take advise from all you guys out there, if I need to wait for the TC I will just have to wait until the finances come around.

I am towing up the Pacific coast over Thanksgiving. Otherwise most of our towing is within 100 miles though it is in the Sierra's over Donner summit long 6% grade with shorter 4 and 5 percent grades. WE do this maybe 10 times a year with a couple 1500 to 2000 mile pulls in there if we get to go on vacation that often.

call and talk to bill about it . where you have the stock TC i think the VB is set up for that and you'll need a different VB for the 89 , that has been my past experience , and things change almost weekly as bill always is working to make it a beeter package .

as far as the trans holding the power , if you didn't tow as much i would say do it , but since you do tow alot its questionable .

how heavy is your trailer ???

I did it.......

I put my DD2's in three weeks prior to my transmission upgrades (they were on order). I had already turned up the pressure on the stock valve body after putting in the EZ. My truck weighs 10K without towing anything.

With just the EZ it didn't seem like a problem, after the DD2's look out. Felt like I was slipping all the time. Just seemed like it took forever to put the power to the ground. Once the TC locked up you could appreciate the power. Although I could slip it in lock up if I really banged it. And that would be the key.

I had already driven someones truck with the same mods only a DTT modified transmission so I knew what I was missing. Those were the longest three weeks of my life. :(

I personally would wait. Besides if you spend the money on the TC and clutch upgrades it will feel like you added the DD2's. It's that noticeable when you can put the power to the ground.

Life is short, Max out the credit cards!!!

You most likley will fry the stock TC lock up clutch. This will then muck up the rest of the transmission with the junk it will create when it goes. I did almost the exact same order of bombing (except using Bully dog 2's) The stock TC clutch was starting to shudder with no towing after only a couple of weeks & just a few romps with the new power. Get the TC Before you do the injectors. Or you could just skip it & wait to spend $3200 + install for Bill's full meal deal trans when you fry the one you have in now.

I have DTT's Valve Body, EZ, & DDII's. Haven't got the TC yet. transmission performs great!

Towing my milage has increased about 3 mpg's, and when not towing, my mpg's have gone up by 4 mpgs's in town, and I'm avg 23 mpg hwy.

transmission shuddered with just the EZ when WOT shifting into 4th, but now even with DDII's, EZ on 2 =solid shifts.

Obviously most people think this is a bad idea. I guess I'll wait and get them later or find a cheap set of 275's. Thanks for the advice.

Should have said earlier.........

Talk to Bill K. at DTT. He has the most knowledge on the subject.

I just related what I did and the results. If you can get a good deal on DD2's pick em up. Even if you have to wait a while to put them in.

No Kidding Robby Ram 23 with my old VP-44 my best tanks were 18 MPG and averaged 17 MPG as some as I can save the Bucks I will have Bills Trans also. I will top of f in the morning and drive 400 miles run trip (Interstate) and check MPG
