I have installed my CIPA mirrors and the power switch. Has anybody added heated mirrors to a truck without the heater switch?? I went down to the Stealer and he quoted me $138 for the switch and panel. It is just an on/off switch. How did you guys do it. I'm thinking of just getting a simple SPST push button switch and putting it in... any advice???

Thanks

That outta work...

Just make sure the switch can handle the amperage of the heaters--OR make the switch run a relay that's heavy enough.

Actually its more than an on/off. Its a digital or Bistable switch - if you leave the mirrors on and turn the key off, you'll find the mirrors revert to off - safety feature. Also a timer onboard (see other post0 after 15 minutes will 'off' if restarted within the current run cycle will remain on only for 5 more minutes - avoids melted mirrors. But worth $138. 00 - I dun theenk soÉ

A couple days ago I tore through the manual... sure enough it is more and just a switch... The $132+ is for an entire heater/AC panel. The heated mirrors portion has 3 wires going in, Ground, fused 12v, and 12v going out to mirror. Pushing the button actually dumps a ground from the control circuit to a relay which sends the 12v to the mirrors. Yes, after 15min the ground drops and the relay opens. If you press the button again without turning the key off, it only heats for 5min at a shot before dropping the load again. I'm currently shopping for a cheaper alternative, switch, relay and timer but may end up with the factory panel if I find an honest dealer or luck out in the junk-yard this weekend. I've been quoted $132, $168 and $195 and $210 for the same part. From 3 dealers, yes 3 I lost the sheet I had the part # on so went back the next day, same parts guy raised the price from $195 to $210... Stealers gotta love'm

heated mirror switch

I love my truck but did not like the non power trailer mirrors. after a quick net search I hit the lottery and found a pair power heated factory style trailer mirrors. The only set in the universe! they are prototypes from Magna mirrors that dodge decided to not provide to us. Anyway I found a control panel at a wrecker and bought the door switch new. $75 and $50 respectively. You need the panels and switches from the correct year. All the plugs ect were behind the door panels and dash, super easy!!
