I have been thinking about ordering this: Leather Seats

My question is for anybody that ever installed these. How hard is it? Can I do it myself or do I need to take it to an upholstery shop? If I have to take it to an upholstery shop how much would I expect to pay?

I know silverram03 added leather to his but I never have heard if he did it himself or not.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if this is the "Dealer Add On" leather that I heard about, supposedly the dealer installed leather is much nicer than the factory stuff.

I think I would get an upholster shop to do the job but would take them the seats so they are not messing with any of that.

They are not accurate for the new trucks, mine has suede inserts not the 'bunched' leather.

Don't know if you care, just throwing that out there.

The leather I saw that Dishman has put in their trucks as a "dealer" option is very nice. Saw a truck with it. If I had it to do again I'd let Dishman add theirs as you get actual leather for the seat sides, back, and rear seat.

Yes, please provide detailed instructions since this is how a typical job involving tools goes for Huskerman:

Hey Al, I need 'help' installing something on my truck. So I go over to help - Huskerman "supervises" the installation and I actually do whatever needs to be done.

In all fairness, I usually get a good steak and 'refreshments' when we are done. :-laf

In all honesty, the easiest thing to do would be to simply forward those detailed instructions directly to gonehuntingagain. It cuts out the middle-man so to speak!! :-laf

One word: "Katzkin".

The are a few here who have done this (do a search) here. When I get some extra pennies I am going to do this. The factory "Leather" is vinyl on the back seats. With Katzkin it's all leather. They do monotone, two-tone, suedes, and custom embroidery.

Look at www.katzkin.com

"I know silverram03 added leather to his but I never have heard if he did it himself or not. "

The seat covers that I added were Katzkin with the rams head embroidered into the head rests you can get a slightly cheaper kit as mentioned above with O. E. M. grade vinyl on the seat sides, fronts and entire rear seat. I opted for the 100% leather version I think it was about $1,600. I also had it profesionally installed, if you decide to do it your self "I would caution against it" as the center console can be a real pain without the proper tools and overall knowledge of how it comes apart. I think you will be more than happy with this set-up. See my gallery for pictures.

katzkin is a the manufature and they dont sell to the public auto leathers is the only company i know that sells to the public that is not installed you have to watch it there are 3 grades of leather from katzkin one is like factory and has leather seating surfaces in the front and vinal in the back like factory one is all leather seating surfaces (this is the best option cause they fit better than all leather) and then you can get 100% leather but you have to ask about these different grades of leather

leather is not too bad to install your self just takes some patinents and you need some hogrings and hogring pliers i did it in my truck last summer and door panels are a pain in the *** but i dont you have to do then on the 3rd gen trucks

the other optio is classic soft trim its what i have in my car i think i is a little better quallity then katzkin but both are better than factory

i belive that with either company you can get sweade inserts it you want it to be really like factory
