Adding power mirrors

We're thinking of adding power mirrors to our 1996 Dodge Ram 3500. We're looking at the power mirrors with the turn signals. We'd like input from those who have upgraded their mirrors. Thanks & Merry Christmas, Di

I upgraded to the CIPA towing mirrors a few years ago on my '97. Haven't had one problem with them and they were a great improvement.

I have PowerVision mirrors on my '02. I had to replace the IN/OUT motors due to a bad previous install and the lack of limit switches. I don't like going down logging roads with the mirrors all the way out but retracting them is just a button push.

Do you already have OEM power mirrors? If you do, the conversion is pretty simple. If you don't, the conversion may not be so simple. I made the conversion in the 2004 CTD I use at work, using a 1996 control and CIPA's 2004 mirrors. It was a pain, but way cheaper than the full conversion that the dealer needed to do, which included power windows. I believe that adding the turn signals would involve running one or two wires into the door, but that is not a terribly difficult thing.



Who sells mirrors with turn signals that fit our 1996 trucks? Expiring minds want to know.

I think they were Power Vision. I dealt with the manufacturer directly. I think they were in Oregon or Washington... ... ... ... ... somewhere in the Northwest. I don't think they had the turn signals in the mirrors at that time.

Memory is the second thing to go. I forget what the first thing is. I am also looking to add turn signals to my CIPA mirrors. I may just thread a small LED in on the edge and call it good.

We decided to go with Power Vision mirrors with the turn signals in the mirror. It took Dutch awhile but he did get them installed and we are quite pleased with them unhooked. It will be a few more weeks before Dutch can travel and we can try them out unhooked. Thanks for all the input. Diana
