Adding tow mirros later??

I'm looking at an 03 truck that is a pretty good fit but lacks the tow mirrors I've grown to love on my 01.



The dealer is unwilling to swap the mirrors with another truck- anyone know what they cost thru the parts department- I realize they are heated and power and should cost more than the $186 I paid for my pair of 01 mirrors. Trying to sleep on this and choose a truck in the morning.



Maybe someone would be on the other side and want to trade mirrors??

I've had my '03 for since Jan 8th. I still miss my '01. 5. It's not that the '03 isn't fantastic and the improvements are well worth the trade, I just really liked my '01. 5 and I'm not done greiving from the loss of it for the '03. I've never missed a truck before.

As for the mirrors, they're over $300 on the www.dodge.com site. They might show up in Geno's or Mopar for Less. If you get the price of the truck down enough, it might even out the cost of the mirrors. Body side molding is over $200. I'm waiting for a kit from Geno's for it too.

If you've found a truck you like but it doesn't have everything you want, the dealer can search other dealerships in the area and possibly locate one with towing mirrors. That's how I got mine. The dealer traded a 1500 HEMI for the truck I wanted. They brought it up to me at our local dealership.

Good luck with even getting them from Dodge as they are on national backorder. Everything is going to the assembly line. The dealership offered me some $$ for my standard mirrors to offset the cost of the tow mirrors. They even special ordered the mirrors but it could be tomorrow or it could be a month from now.



The dealers are reluctant to swap because then they can't dealer to dealer trade the truck. The truck is not equipped as stated on the build sheets. :--)

I ordered the mirrors 2 weeks ago and yesterday they said they were on national back order. They were over 300 for the power and defrost ones.



I think I read a thread somewhere that even if your truck doesn't have the power feature the truck may be wired for it anyways, you would have to add the interior control switches though.

There are some on ebay but they are not listed for 03. Are they the same tow mirrors as the 02's?

No, the 03's have a different mounting base, and are powered/heated. But they look almost identical.
