WOOHOO!! I have been paroled!

My lovely bride and I will be moving to Cheyenne, WY in August. She is hoping to get a job teaching in Laramie school district. The USAF has sent me to the Plains that i love (ND native).

We are hoping to buy a modest house. How is the housing market in Cheyenne?

I have family in Rapid city and Bismarck, so i am pretty pumped about this.

Nothing against GA so much-- I just can't stand the humidity, I miss snow, I hate all the pollen, and my job here sucked. The people are real nice (even if they talk funny:D )

Whitmore, how far from Cheyenne are you? i might need help "losing" my lift pump... .

I am one VERY happy camper. .

Dude

Slap a goose-neck hitch in that thing, buy a trailer and DTY move out there. With a little luck you could make enough $$$ to close on a house!

Good Luck!

Justin, before we let you into the great state of WYO we must teach you the secret handshake:D

Glad to hear another TDR dude moving in, I am in the middle of the state and you will be SE corner, tcpdrafting lives in Cheyenne and knows alot about the town and will be able to answer any of your Q's about it... ... ... . give him a PM . OH and I would be glad to help you with the pumping issue but I dont wanna have anything to do with a pump that sucks.

welcome aboard, Kevin

NE

Honk when you drive through Nebraska! (Assuming you do. )

I shot trap once in Cheyenne back when I lived in Scottsbluff NE. It was March. I never knew the wind could blow so hard. In fact, I think everytime I've been in WY there's been a "breeze. " :)

Enjoy the high plains!

Tim

Congratulations! Cheyenne is nice, I have an uncle that lives there and an Aunt just south of there in Fort Collins, CO. I am from Rapid City and it is a pretty easy drive between the two so I am sure you will be liking the area alot. If you are ever gonna be up in Rapid, drop me a line and let me know, If I am in the area maybe we can get together and talk CTD's

Thanks everyone..

I am not sure of the route I will be taking just yet. . Probably I-80.

Cowboy, my grandfolks live off Nemo Road (Blackhawk exit), just a few miles up the drive in a development off to the left. It was one of the first developments up there, and I LOVE that place. . I would like to retire there.

Net: I hear you, man. The wind on the high plains is something few who haven't been there can understand. I have also seen crazy high winds when I was at the AF academy in Colo Springs. On more than one occasion we had the wind blow the windows/windshields out of people's cars. (gusts to 130+)

Whitmore: Secret Handshake? Is this like becoming an honorary Mason or something:D ? I'll settle for a welcome package of DD3s and a PDR40, if that's OK.

Pay: Of course we are doing at least a partial DTY. Problem is that it's almost the same price to rent a whole truck (that's bigger) as to rent a trailer. Buying a trailer would eat the profit up. Then, when you rent the truck, you have to find another driver.

All: let me ask for ideas on moving out there. We have three vehicles, the other two being a '97 Maxima, and my '69 Dodge (not driveable). Ideally, we could get rid of the '69 (begrudgingly-- i LOVE my car), then stuff the Maxima to the gills and put it on a flatbed behind the CTD, also stuffed. Otherwise, we both have to drive in the 2 vehicles (I would tow the '69).

Thanks for the good words... I am looking forward to this, but a little stressed about making it all happen.

Another one goes down

Hohn do you know what you are getting into:confused: You are getting awful close to Whitmore:eek: He will put that web over you and then:{ Hohn:-{} Whitmore You got to watch those fellows in Wy. They kinda isolated.

If you like small town atmosphere with still enough things to do, you'll like it here. There are several TDR members in Cheyenne. Big difference in climate between here and GA. I have family in Hotlanta and Cumming, and I'll take it here anyday! Housing is still fairly affordable, I think I found my place on realtor.com. If you need bigger city, Denver is only an hour and a half away. If you need anything let me know. What's your timetable?

TPC: I am looking at the first week of August, but trying to move earlier. The sooner, the better for me. .

I DO like the smaller town atmosphere, while still having access to a metro area like Denver. I spent some wonderful years in Bismarck, which is also about 50K people. Funny, the closest metro area to Bismarck is either Minneapolis or Denver-- that's a long way from civilization!

BTW-- The closest I will ever come to a sheep is maybe wearing a wool sweater.
