have ya heard of adjustable balljoints ?

I took the local 5star a list of things to fix before the 36k point, one of the things was the excessive freeplay which I got nothing done to fix it yet!!! also complained about the steering wheel being crooked and pulling to the right and the slow speed stall problem( said ps fluid was low)... . anyway !! said because the truck had been aligned before said that dc would not align it again and said to talk to the alignment shop they had sent it to, so I went right over to them and tried to see what was up? he said that when it was aligned before that it was not able to be aligned correctly because of the castor not being able to be adjusted and that now there is a adjustable balljoint available made by Engle( I think that was the brand name) and that DC is replacing them under warranty!!!

has anyone had this done and whats up, what do ya think???

oh ya and the magic words excessive freeplay got me nowhere!

well so far!

Adjustable ball joints

I put a three inch suspension lift in my '99 2500. I threw in a DT track bar to keep the front end centered and my alignment shop still recommended the adjustable ball joints. I had him throw them in and the truck drives like a dream!:D

GBerry,

The eccentric ball joints will only effect camber and/or cross-caster. The eccentrics on the lower control arms allow castor adjustment - maybe you mis-understood the guy at the alignment shop?

I had that done to my truck about 8 months ago. The company that makes them is Ingle Products. Part number 615. You can call them at 800-641-9795.

Every since they replaced the ball joint..... no pull!

NVR FNSH Your probably correct I allways get camber and caster mixed up!! I do accually do know what each is just get what Im calling each of them mixed up

Ok so camber is what the alignment dude must have said and I spelled Ingle wrong sorry!!!:D

well guess if the dealer can warranty them ill let them do it !!!!

thanks Brian and Frank, and Henry !!!!

sounds like a good thing maybe it will help the with the sloppy steering too!

I had them installed on my truck to correct touchy on center steering, and warranty did not cover it it my with less than 12 monthts/12000 miles. It did cure my problem by allowing them to tilt it back which ever it is caster or camber. Not a cheap deal but they did cut me all the slack they could as I thought it was covered as did the service writer.

RE steering pull

Just to clarify my previous response. My truck was pulling to the right both before and after my lift. I didn't have any "slop". The "pulling" had nothing to do with the lift itself. My understanding was that the factory ball joint didn't allow for enough camber adjustment. The adjustable replacements that you mentioned compensate for this. Regardless. I got 'em, They work and I be a happy camper! Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!

ball joints

I've been having the same problem with my truck. Pulling to the right, my dealer told me it was due to the non adjustable ball joints also, and that when the adjustable ones are in they will replace them under warranty. Well it sounds like the replacements have been out for awhile and of course the dealer has never called. Every time I call them I get the run around. Also my truck was rolling down the road sideways and that was fixed by the dealer after a long struggle. But it still has a terrible pull to the right. Now that I see there is a replacement for the ball joints I'll call my dealer with all the info and see what line of &%^# they give me this time. I've been waiting to hear this info thought I was the only one that was getting the ball joint story from the dealer. . Later Dwayne:rolleyes:

Yes I spoke with my dealer today, the service manager said he does'nt think Dodge will pay for the repairs or parts. This is a warranty problem and I was told numerous times that when the parts to correct the problem were available it would be fixed. Ya right, as soon as he got on the phone he tried to tell me the parts were not out yet( the adjustable ball joints) I kind of cut him off before he finished and said yes they are they have been out for 6 months, and proceeded to give him the information. I also informed him that I had a source that tells me there dealers have been paying for this repair. He still questioned it. I spoke with Ingle Products this morn before calling the dealer to confirm my info. I spoke with Tom at Ingle Products and he said dealers have been buying these things for 6 months through the distributors. My dealer has been avoiding this like the plague for over 1 year. I guess if it does'nt get fixed this time it will be another complaint letter, and phone call. My truck still pulls so bad my wife won't even drive it, hell my arms even get tired keeping it on the road. Oh wait maybe I dont want it fixed or she might take it from me... . Well wish me luck. If it comes down to it I'll do it myself... Dwayne:cool: :D :)
