Vaughn;

what advantage have you found by doing this adjustment, a little tighter?? Run better? quiter? better performance? Mileage? If you would please enlighten.

I have seen where you have done this but this the first for my inquiry. Thanks Marv.

Just a cheap way to get a skosh more lift and a couple more CFM through that 12-valve head :-laf

If you take Vaughn's advice and adjust them tight, which is not a bad idea by itself, just be aware you run a higher risk of smacking valves into pistons at high revs.

I see by your signature it appears you don't have a GSK in the pump, so you should be OK.

I put a new head on last fall and when I pulled the old one off I discovered I'd kissed the piston a bit on a couple of cylinders. The head was stock with ARP studs, but I have a 3K GSK and a PDR stage 1 cam. Between the slightly higher lift of the cam and the original springs in the head I'd floated the valves a bit on occasion!
