one of the guys here at the fire station was asking me about adjusting the vavle springs on our engines... i haven't heard of this or seen it on this site



can anyone give me any info?

I think he must have meant...

adjusting the valves.



Not suppose to be needed untill 100,000 mi. on the 24 valve. Not real difficult, just particular.



Maybe I do not know what I am talking about!!!
 
He had to be talking valve adj. The only way I know to adj. valve springs are to either replace then or put shims under them. But neither choice makes any sence, so I'm thinging he meant valves.
 
Tell him the springs are dipped in "prop wash" which hardens them so you never have to adjust the springs! ;)



But I would recomend adjusting the valves tapit clearence around 100-125K miles.
