Incurable Rear brake shudder solved?

I'm contemplating advancing my timing to 14. 5 or 15 deg. to complement the #11(280hp/680tq) plate I'm running The stock cpl is 2175 which is 13. 5 deg. How much of an HP increase can I expect?

Also how much will advancing the timing lower my egt's? Searched the archives and did'nt come up with anything.

Thanks in advance #ad

Timing to 15. 5 degrees will give you a definite gain in hp and response. One size fits all performance throws all that timing and custom work a curveball. Not using a new torque plate and setting your pump up to deliver an appropriate fuel curve for your application is our way of doing it. If you have the plate in the engine already, the timing can be set up to accomodate it, but it may take several tries until all things are optimized.

Last I remember..... It should be around 150-200F cooler.
Hope this helps...

150-200 deg F cooler..... WOW! #ad
I was starting to lose interest in this modification until now.

Any extra HP gains would be icing on the cake.

Any other experienced opinions on this subject?

How about a gain in mileage. I got between 2 and 5 more mpg upon the initial timing advance I made and that was from 5 Deg. BTDC to 13. 5 Deg. BTDC. I'm now at 15. 5 Deg. BTDC #ad

FL60cummins, (you'all please forgive the break in the thread subject), what happened to the little FL60 5. 9, last count I had it only had about 300000 on it. Start pulling bigger loads or just decide to try the other folks?

PS, how do you like the Cat?

You can expect 50 lbs. of combustion pressure, and 50 degrees of combustion temp per 1 degree of advance.
This will burn the fuel more completely in the cylinder reducing EGT some, but I would NOT expect 100-150 degrees.
Cummins recommends 14. 5 degrees BTDC for most B-Series engines.
Our experience has shown 14 to 15. 5 seems to work in most applications.
More than that can increase smoke, and definitely increases NOX levels.
There doesn't seem to be much difference from 14 to 16 degrees, but when coming up from 12 or lower it definitely makes a difference.
