well got under the hood and moved the pump (bought bent wrench from cornwell, best 19. 95 ever spent). moved it about 1/8 up and locked it down.

short story, egt's about the same, boost dropped slightly across the board, feels a little better sop, smoke virtually dissappeared. not bad but it almost feels like i went too far. engine sounds a little different too. this sounds right to ya'll?

one question, lugged it in fifth and when the rpm came up it chattered the turbo (never done that before). wasn't making more boost, right at 15 or so when it chattered. any ideas? i still have the stock housing.

Sounds about normal to me. Mine chattered the turbo until I readjusted the starwheel and then it stopped. I think it was set just right to get the diapharam to chatter up and down. I adjusted it down a little I think and it stopped chattering. I also swiss cheesed the air box at the same time so it may have been starving for air.

did you roll it up or down? i would think down due to lack of smoke now. it won't be run like this for long, new years weekend i supposed to install pod's, 16cm and exhuast brake, and 4" exhaust. just don't want to hurt anything between now and then.

Sounds like you might just need a bit more fuel to take advantage of the timing increase. I just advanced mine about the same amount, and turned in the full power screw just a bit. Of course, when you put in the POD's you won't need that! I did notice a little bit of a "metallic" kind of knock with the advance, more noticeable when cold, more like my 98 215hp truck sounds like. Although you can hear the "knock" more pronounced, I don't think it's detrimental. Anybody... ..... ???... K2

Boost down, engine rattle louder, surging the turbo lugging in 5th. Sounds about right.

More fuel + smaller exhaust housing = more fun!!! :) :) No worries!

Cheers and Happy Holidays!! ;)

On my "91. 5", I advanced the pump to the point of slight engine rattle when cold and KSB kicked in, this is under light throttle. When the engine warms up and KSB kicks out the rattle is gone. Seems to be just right. I have the "16" exhaust housing, 50 hp Bully Dogs, pump turned up, stock intake, stock exhaust with out muffler and max boost of 25 lbs. Also max exhaust temp of 1000* post turbo.
