Help Cruise Control Problem

Ok can I get those of you who are running advanced timming to give the pros and cons of doing so. I bought the kit to set the timming with. I have already talked to a couple of you about this but i want some more experence talking. What all changes will i notice. any other info will be appriciated.

I also would like to know. Another question is how long would it take (with the proper tools).

95 Ram 2500 Auto Std Cab, Cat & Muffler Fell off, New Guages, 130,000 miles.
Bombing Moved Plate & AFC all the way. New 215 injectors.
SMOKE IS GOOD!

The timing is "advanced" on my truck.
I believe it is at 17. 5 right now or
close to it.

My truck runs good!! But "Scheid Diesel"
set the timing in accordance to the mods
they had made to my pump when they set it
up on the calibrated testing machine.

Joe Donnelly wrote a VERY GOOD article
on this in "The Register" magazine, Issue
#29, page #33. According to his article:

Advancing the timing will
(Good charateristics):

1. ) Increase cylinder temperatures/
pressures (Power)
2. ) Increase fuel economy
3. ) Decrease exhaust temperature
4. ) Decrease your output of hydrocarbons

However, advancing the timing will
(Bad characteristics):

1. ) Increase the amount of black smoke
particulates-a pollutant at peak
torque. )
2. ) Increase your output of NOx-a
pollutant.

I have found ALL OF THIS to be true on
my truck based upon Joe Donnelly's
article.
