advice buying torch set

Looking at a compact 2 tank oxy acet. set of torches at home depot. They are about 24" tall and come with a plastic carry case and are about 275. 00. I want to try some braizing and mabey cut a hole once in a while thru some angle iorn or heat a stuck bolt on the truck. My ? is will these do about the same job as a real set of full size tanks. I will only use them 4 or 5 times a year but I dont want to buy something that will not do the job.

Tank size will not matter. As far as troches go, I'd perfer Victor myself. For home use like your talking about what your looking at will probably be more than adiquate. You go trying to fire up a rose bud tip you'll empty those bottles in a hurry. This is an oxy-cetalyne set I assume. Not propane.

I bought the little set at lowes at about $275. 00. I used up the gas really quick, then bought a second set of little tanks at Indiana Oxygen. It became a hassle going down and getting filled tanks nearly every time I used it. I ended up going up to the next size tanks and bought a cart for the tanks. The little tanks just won't last for any real cutting work. The cost for the next size up is not too bad, factoring in the savings in trips to get refills.

yep oxy-acetalyne is what I am looking at. I talked to a local welder supply and he said the small carry around set is going to be out of gas in 1 hour or less. So i may move up to the next size up with a small cart for 450. 00 filled. Almost the same price to have real small or next size up filled and seems to be 3 times as much gas. Also the carry around size has smith torch head. ?is that bad? bigger set for 450 i think had victor.
