advice for removing ve pump

I have to reseal my tappet cover and need to pull the ve pump. am I right in the idea that the ve pump can only go in one way with the key if I dont move the pump after removal or move engine? Also if I use the lock bolt on the pump it will lock in any position? Correct? What I'm getting at is I want to pull the injection pump with the key at 12 oclock and not 6 oclock. and I want to lock the injection pump at that location but don"t know if the lock goes in a slot or just friction tightens against internal parts? If you go to you tube they have an excallant "how to" including necessary tools for removal VE. I do not remember the link but it was easy to find. It is a step by step - with pictures. It will answer all your questions.

Thanks I got it all done. I put the key way at 12oclock and locked the pump in and it all went well. The tappet cover went ok not a lot of room. I had to cut off the sound deadner but once i did it came out easily. its all back together and no more leak on the tappet cover. So thanks everyone for the advice.
