Do you guys remove the fuel filter to gain access? Do you remove the mounting bolts pull the unit aside and then remove the connector? I need to buy a 4mm allen socket for the connector. I do not want to twist/pull the wires anymore than I have to. I allready cut the top of the LP bracket off when the starter was out, so the (2) 10mm bolts are easy access.

IIRC I did just that. Remove the filter canister mounting bolts and just pulled it out of the way for access. Then 3 10mm bolts (one on each end and one in the center on the bottom) along with the connector allen screw. You cant really see all the bolts real well, it wasnt bad at all. Be careful screwing the connector back on not too tight as it will crack.

One thing that helped me is the Allen wrench I used was I think they call a ball type. Basically can take the Allen screw out with the wrench at an angle as well as straight on.

Well did the swap and it was fast & easy however new ecm (cummins reman thru mopar) did not work. I only got a check light blink. I guess the vin needs to be flashed? Nobudy could ever confirm that. Put in the old - fired right up. Found old ecm data plate under the wire harness pn 3946242 & my new ecm is pn 3947912 (only used brieftly on a 01 3500) both 5 speeds, vac cruise, etc. ?????
