I have been towing around my 26 foot toybox which has a bit of tongue weight. I am using WD hitch, but I am also interested in airbags to level the rear and help with the load.



Over some roads the tongue will get to bobbing up and down slowly then stop and it is smooth again. Will airbags aired up prevent this and keep it from the bobbing up and down motion?



What airbag system is good? I have read alot about Firestone, but I don't want to have to drill the frame and would prefer to install myself. Recommendations please on what to buy and where to buy it.

I have firestones that I am happy with so can't help you much there. If your shocks are good on both ends and the tire air is up to specs (I run 80) then the road is the problem and we do have some very bad sections in this country. Sometimes I am going along wondering what in the devil is wrong with my truck (well maintained) then move onto a newly paved section and realize it was the road and not my rig. R C

R C makes a good point about road surfaces. What did you notice there? Was there any difference between right and left lanes?



You dont' mention your weights or 5ver vs TT, but bobbing like that is usually a hint that you haven' got ENOUGH weight on the hitch. Too much hitch weight will make the front of the trailer tend to dive when you decelerate. If you're into five figures on your traier weight, you usually will have 500# or so of leeway from a good balance on your tongue weight to play with to avoid either problem. If your truck is braking fine running bareback, and the trailer checks out OK electrically, I'd get to some scales before I started tearing into the trailer brakes themselves. .

I'm looking at a set of Ride Rites for my truck. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Ride Rites for the third gen's no drill?



With my pin weight I'm just braely on the overloads and I knwo that sometimes I get some crashing down on them (makes for a little bumping in the up/down ride). The TrailAir pin box helps a lot, though.

They are bolt ons, no drilling. I am in the process of buying a new class V hitch for my truck and will installing the airbags as well.

The Ride Rights work quite well and do not require any drilling... . they will raise the back of my truck about 2 inches with a 5th wheel tongue weight of 3400 lbs... ... hope this helps. Oo.

I am using Timbren overloads on my 4. 5. with about 1000lbs tongue weight. They make my pu and trailer sit level. Really like them!

You also might want to review the setup on your WD system. If it is setup correctly, your TV should be pretty level.
