Would there be any advantage of early '14 over late '13 3500 dually? Looking at '13 Laramie, loaded, 385- 850 Aisin.

Will the discount on the '13 offset the big depreciation hit it will take as a year old truck if you trade within a few years? If you don't trade for 8-10 years, it shouldn't make much difference.

Key fob is the only difference that I know of. 13 plugs into the dash, 14 is just the start button, I think this is the case, I never did look at a 13 other than the one I test drove. This may have been only because it didn't have the connivence package, but it was a Long Horn, so I would think it would have had it if it was available in 2013.

30 Days ago when I was looking the only difference was price the 13 I ended up with was lots less than any of the 14 I looked at. Some of the 13's have the push button start if that option was chose when it was ordered.

Key Fob's not different.. Plug in or push button was option dependent. When I ordered, I was told Keyless Go, got the push button start.

AFAIK, I think the only real difference is the the '14 3500s got TPMD (tire pressure display), where the 13's don't have it; not even as an option... There's probably other changes we don't know about, because they maybe internal to the engine or something...

AFAIK, mechanically the 13s and 14s are identical. After all, the 13s didn't come out at the normal July-August 2012 time frame, but after January 13. They had huge changes/improvements so there would be no reason to make more changes for MY14. Late in the 14 model year, the air bag suspension is supposed to be released. I don't expect the MY value difference to be as big as the $10K or so discount you can get on a 13. If you just have to have a certain paint color, mineral gray and copperhead were not continued to 14, and one or two new colors came out for the 14s. Since I don't plan to trade in my 13 in a couple years, I like the savings. I don't have unlimited funds and the savings really helped me to get a new truck instead of having to wait another year or so.

In my area the only difference in price between a leftover 13' and a 14' was the additional $2K off from the Ram incentive, plus the small MY 14 price increase.
For me buying a local leftover 13' also meant it was ordered with thousands of dollars in unwanted bling, yet missing the important features I wanted.
I definitely paid more for a 14', but ended up with exactly what I wanted by factory ordering.

Agreed on the bling vs. price. If you find something close in a '13, go for it. If not, there is always next year.

The '90 was taken over by my son, but he just bought a new car for Cal commuting and no longer needs it. I have replaced the water pump, belt, alternator, etc. It has the KDP done, BD exhaust manifold, Mag Hytec with LE1605, so it is better than the usual 24 year old truck. I am hoping to sell it for him via TDR. Stuff I did to it is mentioned in my column over the past 3-4 years.

Just before the holidays, I had my 2010 in for service at the dealer (new o2 sensors and module) and was asking about the '13 they had on the lot for sale. it was a fully loaded crew cab dually longhorn package, white with the tan leather. Had all of the heavy duty towing goodies too! sticker on it was about $85,000. So I drove it and told them to look at mine for a trade. To make a long storey short... they offered me the new left over '13 for $70,000 (this price included the free diesel discount and some other incentives) and allowed me $38,000 for a trade on mine (they started at $31,000 and I told them to take a hike). The '13 was very sweet, but you can't get a rear dvd anymore and I think my kids would trash the tan/brown interior. But I did like the traction control :) Just couldn't see enough of a difference to justify the step up for the '13. Nice, Nice truck tho........
