I want to monitor the temp of my 6spd and my rear end without buying fast coolers or mag-hytec rear cover.

Looking for advice.

I plan on buying both of the above mentioned, but I want to see what I am running now, to have a comparison.

Does someone make plugs with temp probe threads?

Thanks

The temp probe that came with my gauge had 1/4" NPT so I removed the PTO cover, drilled a hole in it and welded half a 1/4" pipe coupler on. Now the temp probe screws right in the side.

The Mag-Hytech cover has a boss (or maybe a threaded hole???)for the plug so install should be easy with that if you don't mind waiting. If not you could do the same thing I did with the trans.

90° weather cruising 70 mph I'll see about 180° in the trans. Highest I've ever seen was 190° towing but the weather was around 70°. This is also a NV4500 5-speed, I think they run a little warmer than the 5600's.

I don't have a probe in the rear end although I should put one there as well. I also have no fast coolers of any kind.

Most of the gauge manufacturers sell weld in fittings to accomplish

that and they are a bit nicer than pipe fittings;)
