Any input that members might have regarding a 1977 Grandby 4 wheel pop- up pick up camper would be appreciated:
As advertised, it states “stove, ice box, heater, water storage, $400”
I spoke to the seller and he bought a new set- up including a new vehicle and wants to pass this one on to a worthy buyer (I am looking at the camper only. ) I have not looked at the camper yet, but have an appointment to do so tomorrow. I am interested in this item for several reasons: I currently own a WilderNest topper on the 2001 CTD now. I am not afraid to use my truck like a truck and the scratches and dings on the truck prove it. I like the bush (no comments please
) and will take the truck where it wants to go. The WilderNest topper allows me very un- obstructed passage to the many back woods areas that I like to camp and hunt as it is just a “normal” shell in it appearance, yet it folds out to a nice “back woods castle” when set- up in its full position. I am intrigued by the older pop- up. It is older and I am not too worried about the scratches and dents that may occur on it in my jaunts. I realize that the items listed in the ad may need some work or replacement. But, I am not all that concerned that they have to work at all. My main interest in this unit is that it may be a little more comfortable camping in its use and set- up. I have never owned a ‘pop- up” before and for the price I am not expecting too much. But any and all input would be appreciated as to what to look for when I go to look at this item.
I am looking for a little easier set up in the pop- up feature over my current topper and a little more room that it may offer. The features listed are nice, but I do not mind scrapping the inside and still have “primitive” camping inside. I kinda’ feel that I cannot go wrong so long as it folds up and sheds weather.
Comment please!
