ABS Problem...

stock full boost was about 18lbs

Did the 16 housing (no increase)

Turned power screw in (20-21lbs full boost)

Turned t25 screw in two turns ( better drivability less lag)

When I turned the screws I had to idle the truck down about 300-350 RPM, so I know it increased power, the converter feels really mushy now.

I also turned the AFC cone 90 degrees, did not see any difference at all.

Tomorrow the truck will be getting dropped off to get the BD Tourque converter done, B&M Transpack shift kit, B&M Deep pan installed.

I do have 4 inch exhaust for the truck

New HD springs for the front end

3200 Governor spring

I will be getting these done soon asap.

Does my boost sound about right for what I have done?

Anybody have a real good instruction on doing the 3200 spring?

Does anybody have the 45 degree elbow, like the factory turbo on a 1996 CTD?(need that to put my exhaust on)

What would you guys recommend to do next?

Thankyou for any help, sorry for being so long.

Is yours intercooled or non-ic?

I have done similar mods/pump tweaks as you, but noticed quite different results.

Boost was 19psi max with smoke screw (T-25 head) turned 2 turns CW and full power screw 1 turn CW. This is with a BHAF and high-flow muffler. Driveability increased greatly with these mods.

Then I opened up the AFC and turned the starwheel CW 1 turn and rotated the fuel pin 90* CCW. I also backed the smoke screw off 1 turn (so now at 1 turn CW from factory). The full power screw was still 1 turn CW. This produces a max boost of 24psi.

Try rotating your fuel pin 110* CCW and you should really notice a difference. Turning 90* CW on mine would not be much different than the stock profile.

EDIT: How much is the transmission work going to run you? I need to do the same thing. :{

OK, That is where screwed up. I turned my fuel pin 90* CW. I SHOULD have gone CCW! I will fix that.

Sorry, it is a intercooled truck with Overdrive trans, 2wd.

SIGNATURE UPDATED

Not sure on the price for transmission work. I will post back on that.

I bought the BD converter

The B&M shift kit and Deep Aluminum Pan was free I got a buddy at B&M!! I also have the big transmission cooler with its own fan, and guage that I will do myself, when I get the truck back next week.

First look at the fuel pin and mark the side with the most aggressive tapper! That side should face forward. I had to turn mine 90 degrees CW... so it all depends on where you're starting in the first place. And while you are there screw down on the star wheel (CW) a couple of turns and you can even shave down that plastic washer by half to start with... . some have just got rid of the washer all together. The next step... . POD's ! Oo.

;)

I will do that on the fuel pin, Thankyou.

Turning the starwheel, will that increase power or just smoke?

I just want to make as much reliable power without blowing alot of unburned fuel out the pipe.

Thankyou for all the help.

I am going to have to do something about this open Diff. now! Too much tourque for 1 tire to handle.

It will enable the fuel to come on sooner (compared to a given manifold pressure/boost). It will have an effect on throttle response, you just have to find the happy medium between that and how much smoke you are willing to live with. Remember that you can always go back..... Hmmmm :-laf

I am trying to decide between

BD 40hp injectors

PDR POD's

At this point I am shooting for 250-300 max HP

I want to keep a stock IP pump in it.

Stock Turbo w/16cm housing

Stock transmission, BD power TC, B&M Shift Kit, Deep Alum. pan, BIG cooler with fan.

What are HP limits ON stock

IP Pump=

Turbo=

Just trying to establish a realistic goal.

If you want 250-300hp, you are going to have to get into that fuel screw just a little. I'd go for the BD 40hp injectors, as you seem (wisely, I might add) somewhat concerned about smoke. I know you can get good MPGs, and more power with the PODs, but general consensus seems to be that they smoke unless you really tighten the AFC starwheel.

Stock turbo is efficient to 25-28psi. Mcuh beyond that, and you get your drive pressure outrunning your boost.
