Texas Muslims Host Ayatollah Khomeini Tribute

Our 1st white Christmas

My wife and I are considering purchasing a retirement property (land) to build on when we retire in 15 years or so. We really have enjoyed camping in Oregon and are thinking about the Grants Pass / Rouge river area.

Does any members have experience or advice? We are looking at 40+ acre lots, and will be traveling there the week after X-mas to look around.

Thanks for any input.

Greg

I know someone that has six lots (aprox . 46 acres) in Netarts Oregon just west of Tillamook Oregon. It has a mobilhome and a double car garage.

You might want to jump over to the NW Bombers website, sign up on the forums (it's free) and post this in the "Anything Else" forum. There are a bunch of helpful Oregon members in the group. Some of them are in the construction business, too.

I had a cousin that use to live in Bend, Oregon. He said it was beautiful country up there. We started out to visit back in early seventy's, but only made it to Pueblo,Co back when the gas rationing was going on. Heard it got worse further north you went. :(

Be aware that some of the states HIGHEST summertime temps are in the Rogue River/Grant's Pass area - frequently topping 100 degrees and high relative humidity! In earlier years, the property price differential between MOST California areas and Oregon, made the move to Oregon very attractive - but much of that has/is changing rapidly, as Californians (like ME!) abandon California for the lower priced land and somewhat better political/tax climate - the nice scenery helps too! ;) :D

Depending on exactly what moves you in terms of regional features, eastern Oregon still provides much of the "bang-for-the-buck" advantages that have largely deteriorated further west...

Dad retired about 7 years ago from the Portland Fire Department. Him and mom bought 160 acres in Summerville, Or, just out side of LaGrande. Absolutley beautiful. I will go along with Gary about temperatures. It can get a bit above a 100, but the humidity where they are at is pretty low. I believe they paid around $550,000 for the place.
