How difficult is it to remove a front brake rotor. I have the service manual but it doesn't show my brake rotors. The book has the 5 stud rotor which slides off the studs after removing the caliper adapter assembly. It also shows an 8 stud rotor which involves removing an axle nut and is more involved. That looks like the 4x4 version.
My truck has 8 studs but is 2 wheel drive. I definitely do not have to remove the wheel bearing nut. The rotor is free floating on the studs.
My question is do I have to remove the caliper adapter assembly or is there enough room to remove the rotor without removing the caliper adapter assembly.
Also the book seems to indicate that the caliper adapter assembly bolts should be torqued to 210 ft-lbs. That seems like a lot of torque.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Also why does the book not cover my situation?
Thanks,
Bobby
