Need Help Selling My Mom's AVION

Load ratings?

Had a great season of weekending and camping in our Jayco TT. Winterized it early this month. I wanted to ask you guys in the know about covers for these units. What do you recommend, and where to get the best deal. I intended to build a pole barn type shelter before winter, but time (and funds) are low!:)

I was wondering what kind of experience you all have with covers. Our winters can be mild to extreme with some ice and snow. Please give me some advice. Thanks, Cameron

I'm not an expert by any means. I have decided not to cover ours. The owner's manual says that it is designed to be out in the weather.

The biggest concern about covering it is condensation buildup under the cover. Another concern is abrasion from the cover rubbing against the trailer.

On the other hand - if you don't cover it it will fade faster.

If you plan to have a pole building up by next year I would just leave it outside this winter - it's not going to hurt it.

Whether you cover it or not - just keep an eye on the snow load and don't let it get too heavy on the roof.

I have had motorhomes for years and sitting outside really takes its toll on the whole thing, tires, roof, paint, etc. . I have always had good luck in finding a rental barn to keep them in. Several years outside will sure age the unit. I suppose if you washed and waxed constantly if would help, or be in a different climate it might as well, altho the sun beats it up just as much as weather. Camping World had some nice covers for sale a while back. I think you need to be careful to wrap sharp edges or it will wear thru quickly and tear. BUt I would cover it somehow, it can't hurt.

Like Dave says if its for a year or so, no big deal.

This was just my experiences.

I recommend the ADVO. It has a Tyvec top and zippered sides near the doors so you can get in there if you have to. The fastening straps are outstanding and there are plenty of them. There are gussets on the front and rear to further lash it down. We experienced high winds here a couple of weeks ago and the cover never moved. This will be the second winter with mine and it still looks new. It on the trailer from early November until the end of March. I got mine from Camping World, but I imagine they are available anywhere.

Cameron nees Help

Sorry Cameron, Can't help you with the Cover but i can tell you where to Hunt and Fish. . Happy thanksgiving Crappie Cop... .

I also use the ADCO from Camping world with the TYVEK white top panel. They make several grades of covers so find one that meets your needs. It takes 2 people on ladders to put on, PITA but once its on it keeps it clean and protects it from the weather. In Texas its sun damage that is bad.

Last year I put mine on alone and it was doable, but a real job and impossible if there was a wind. This year my neighbor and I helped each other cover our rv's. I get on the roof, roll out the cover and pass the sides over to my helper, pretty easy to do the second time;) .

I have a Cal-Mark cover for my '99 Jayco TT which is going on its fifth year and still in good shape. I like the Cal-Mark better than the ADCO's sold by Camping World. The material is of higher quality and it has nylon reinforcing straps in critical areas and zipper access for the doors so you can get in/out of the rig at will. The price is competitive with XW as well. Cal-Mark is a small company in CA and will give you personalized service.

One caution though, besure to wrap sharp edges with toweling or some sort of padding otherwise over the winter the cover will tear thru.

If you need more info, PM me.

Another tip in regard to padding:

I use foam pipe insulation where any ropes or straps come into contact with the trailer to keep from rubbing on the finish.
