I took my 04 2500 to the Dodge dealer in Cary NC after they said my TC was slipping. Warranty repair, so I figured it couldn't hurt though I questioned their diagnosis. Well, not only did the new TC not fix the problem, they dented my transmission pan, scratched the driver door, the t/c is leaking and blowing oil onto rear axle and the seal at tail end of trans case is damaged and leaking. So, that is the value of the warranty? If I take it back in, they will have the same incompetent hack repair it. They refused to let me pay for a decent tc and said they would have to install a mopar unit initially. I am now faced with having to take it elsewhere to have this damage repaired and have a decent tc installed. Any advice on how I should handle this is greatly appreciated. Oh, one of the bolts where the transmission bolts to the engine was hand tight and one of the bolts to the starter mount is missing. Nice work! I am so disgusted I could spit!

Typical 5 Star repair. . I would take it to another dealer and let them make it right. You shouldnt have to deal with the cost to fix the D/C problem.

I would talk to the owner and tell him to replace everything that was damaged or needed repair. If he refuses send pics to DC, have the truck repaired, then serve him with a lawsuit. When they agree to do work on your truck they agree that they are responsible to give it back in the same condition or better.

Just crawled back under

He nearly punctured my transmission pan somehow. Also there was a rubber line torn off the fitting at the rear of the trans on the drivers side. Not sure what this is, possible a vent? May not matter but is indicative of the quality of work that was done.

you need to go back, with a list of what is damaged/incorrectly done, and demand tot alk to the Owner, Shop Manager, Tech that did the work, and your service adviser. All items damaged need to be replaced/repaired. Make it known that if this is NOT taken care of, DC will be getting all pictures and notes on what happened at thier dealership. Also, tell them in NOWAY is the same tech to work on your vehicle. Also, make sure they know that if not fixed correctly, you will be bringing it to a well known mechanic in the area and they will be responsible for the repair bill if not fixed to your satisfaction. Lastly, when its fixed, send the pics and notes to DC anyway, and find a new dealer!

Definitely take it with the dealer that did the work, because another dealer might not fix everything without it costing you. Do like what was already mentioned and take lots of pictures so you can get DC involved if you have to.

My first thought was to take it back with your list and go over the stuff not right because the manager needs to know whats going on in the shop. I myself am self employed and want to know when something is not right, sometimes a part may fail prematurely and then the customer blames the facility.

But then I thought. . what if it was my truck?

I wouldn't go back. I am super picky, anal actually about my stuff and what you posted sounds like labor issues rather than parts issues. I would go to another Dealer to have the "original" issue addressed and at that time go over with them the list of findings you have from the first dealer. Ask them if in the process of doing your original warranty work if possibly the leaks could be fixed under warranty and pay for the other stuff to be straightened out.

If you go back to the original Dealer trying to change a labor fault you may not be very successful if they don't have the competency to locate the trouble and treat your vehicle as if it were there own. It could turn out to be like sending food back, how comfortable are you going to feel with the returned plate?
