I am ready to take the plunge and install mbrp 304 cool duals and an intake setup. I have already decided on the exhaust but am not sure on the intake seeing as there are sooo many opinions on them. With the intake i would like to accomplish a few things in this order.

1. Lower my egt's readings

2. Maintain excellent filtration efficiency.

3. Have a cool sounding turbo. :-laf

4. Have a nice looking product

I know alot of us are running the afe stage 2 pro guard 7 with a torque tube but this seems quite pricey. I also know that the scotty is good as well as mac cold air intake. I see the aem brute force on the market and it looks good and is priced right. They have some independent test results on their website but i would like to know how it compares efficiency wise to the other setups i have listed. Does anyone have a comparison on these filters? How many of you guys are running the aem setup and what are your thoughts on it?How about problems with the filter getting wet? Thanks

I'm switching from the AFE PG7 w/ Torque Tube to the DRC BHAF. I want to stick with paper, it makes me more comfortable that the filter is doing its job. I think it's $250 or so for the whole setup including the filter. I think he's also working on a carbon fiber one. Now *that* would look cool!

I can't speak to the AEM getting wet, but my AFE did. I ended up running it only in the summer to avoid having a soaked filter. The 04. 5's and up are a little better for the cold air intakes, as there's a plastic shroud that runs from the CAC over towards the headlight. In the 03-04 trucks, air and water have a straight shot at the filter.

The pre-filter doesn't keep all the water out either, but it does make the filter look new longer. The water will bead up at first, but it will eventually be pulled through the pre-filter along with the intake air.

I ended up powder coating the inside of my Torque Tube to keep the pipe from corroding. I pulled the filter off after a couple of rain storms and found flaky white stuff on the inside of the TT. The new plastic tube won't have that problem, though.
