I bought the 65 gallon Aero stock tank replacement. Prior to purchase I called the company and spoke to the Shop Supervisor, Ed. I asked if there were any fit-up techniques I should be aware of and he said, "No, just fit her up. "
The tank was a was a bad fit and I had to grind a couple of notches in the frame and fabricate a tool to hold the bolts for installation. After spending an entire weekend on the installation I called Ed back and told him about the tool I had to make. "Yeah, we made a special bolt tool too... " Thanks for telling me now.
When I received the tank there was a lot of slag on top and grit inside. The fuel sending unit cap they sent was a cheap piece of cut sheet metal so I used the plastic OEM part. I wiped out all the crud I could reach by hand with a kero soaked rag.
Filled the tank up and it leaked copiously from two seams!!!

When I called Aero, Ed told me to rub a bar of soap on the leaks. I'm embarrassed to admit I even tried that but I did. Didn't work.
I drove the truck to a local welding shop to see if I could get a proper repair done and the owner told me after crawling under my truck to look at the tank that "it looks like a 7-year old welded it... "
When I called Aero and said I wanted to send the tank back at first I got a run-around. No one there to authorize it I was told. After numerous calls over the next week I asked to speak to the owner and got reamed by an incredibly rude clerk. How Dare I, etc.
I waited a few days and asked to speak by name to the lady that took my order. She was very nice and said they she would refund the tank price if I paid the shipping. I did and they did. I think she was the only person in the whole company that gave a rat's a**.
Thanks for letting me vent on this subject. Slick ads, lousy product and service from Aero.
