I got the 60 gal replacement tank + it is excellent!

Made the appt, got there, it was done in under 3hrs. Quality looks good. Bolted to the frame. The best part is, it looks like the fuel gauge is dead accurate - at least when it gets to 1/4 tank. I ran it down to just a hair over the 1/4 tank mark + it took 44. 5 gal. It does take about 200mi before the gauge starts to read, but they warned me about that.

It also has a drain plug that I will access if I ever get a WIF light!

Just seemed like courteous, competent service that I wanted to report. Saving 5 - 10 cents/gal by being able to shop helps too;-)

Nice. !. . I see they have a D-75. . a 75 gal replacement tank as well. . it says you need a part that makes your tank hang down 6". . it this true on your 60 gal. . it says so on the ad.

Last I ever saw was a 54 gal. replacement. . the 75 gal might be a good investment as it is more than twice the size.

I believe the D-60 hangs lower then the original but still higher than the axles, diff, transfer case. I didn't see it but I believe the 75gal version has a part that goes in the spare space making the spare hang 6in lower. Still not an issue IMO.

The steel tank seems pretty sturdy.

The biggest problem as I see it,is they are made from steel. With the 6. 7 corporate has aftermarket tanks on the watch list. Look twice as close for any rust... ... ... any found... ... ... . bam restricted warranty.

I have to say that from what I have seen, transfer flow is also a better quality product as well. After welding up my areo too many times I pulled it out

The Aero tank is made of aluminized steel. I guess some of the bed tanks are diamond plate aluminum.

What welds failed? They have a 3 yr warranty but I'd sure rather not have to use it.

Transfer flow does have good quality, a buddy has a tool box tank. They do not have a 60gal replacement tank + quite a few $$$ more. Time will tell!

60 OR 65 I forget

I have the in bed model and love it pulling my trailer I can go for at least 1200 miles. Its not that I do it all the time but like the above post said I can shop for fuel and the bigger fuel stops with a big fuel turn over rate. 60 with the 35 or 38 gal. reg tank is in my Idea the way to go. Went into Canada and didnt have to buy their high dollar liter fuel Aero tank has been good for me

I have over 300,000 miles using RDS Diamond Plate Aluminum Tanks(Northern Tool) and have never had a problem with any of them. I am coming up on 200,000 miles on the one I have in my current truck.

Living in Florida, fuel is high. So when we go north to one of our dealers, we load up with Georgia fuel. 15 to 30 cents cheaper than Florida fuel.

Less stops. More road time. Less likely to damage towing unit because of not having to weave in and out of filling stations or truck stops.

Would not be without aux fuel. They are handier than pockets on a shirt!

The mounting brackets and the plates that they are attatched to have failed too many times. It would be easier for me to start from scatch and build a new tank. At the last show I attended the Aero saleman said they would not cover the failed bracketry and have since stopped selling my model tank.

I checked with Transfer Flow last month about a tank for the 2010. As of that time they did not make a tank for the '10 and did not have an idea when they would have one. The issue was with something electronic in the '10'

fail brackets

Dont know for sure Bob 4x4 but do you think that offroading has anything to do with the tank problems? Or do you tow something else to get crazy with so you dont run your dodge off road. About as far off road as I get is the dirt road to my 35 acre lot in Seeley Lake MT. And Ive had no problems YET. Your right the transfer tanks do look better.

I beleive it to be a design flaw on my model. The tank hangs from bolts.

The material thickness was not great enough to take the flexing caused by the poor design mounting. I am guessing they realized their mistake hence the discontinuation of that version. I am sure my off roading hastened the conditions onset. The good thing was I had them double wall the bottom of the tank. It was strong enough that I had no worries about punctures from the bottom.

If I still travelled the miles I used to I would either beef it up or build my own version.

I don't do too many 24 hour driving stints non stop these days

They still use brackets + bolt them to the frame. They claim it is a better system than the straps going around the tank like the OEM. I noticed Transfer flow uses straps.

I'll have to look closer at how the brackets are attached. And something to keep an eye on. I don't do much off roading, just some dirt roads around Ca in the Sespe + in Lost Prairie, Mraion, MT.

FParisi would you be able to take some pics of your Aero Tank and post them with also showing how it mounts to the truck. I have been looking at there D50 for my truck. No one else make a bigger tank for a reg cab long bed except for them. I like that it is 50 gallons compared to having 35 gallons.

Thanks for any info.

Yeah. I had to use 3 cards to fill the Aero tank the first time.

I'll try to get some photos + post them - I am computer challenged + have to work the next few days ;-(

Glad you are happy with your new tank, but just to be clear, there is NO comparison in quality between AT and Transfer Flow. It's like comparing A or AA baseball to the major leagues.

What about the Titan tanks? No one mentions those. They are not metal, so should not leak- no welded seams. What do you guys think?
