Hey fellas,

I was looking at my Aero tank catalog yesterday and seen the 60

gallon stock replacement tank and the 40 (?) gallon aft axle tank

Does anyone have these on their 1st gen? Does the 60 gallon stick down further than the stock one. how far does the 40 come down? My trucks a W. Also the notes said Additional parts needed; exactly what parts are those?

Thanks Steve

I've got a 45 gallon in bed aux tank from Aero that works quite well. The only thing I found that I didn't like about Aero was the installation instructions - not all that good. I was able to figure out the installation without much hassle. Sorry I can't help with the replacement tank.

Happy trails

Aero tanks has a kit that you can buy with all the additional parts you will need. Sorry I don't remember the price but it included a sender for my aux tank, hoses. switching valves and other hardware. I'm sure that your installation will be be slightly different. With the fuel sender they supplied I can read my aux tank off my OEM fuel guage. I wanted manual switching valves because of past problems with the electric ones. I would give them a call to get firm prices. I've been running it for about a year and I'm quite happy with it. Hope this helps - Good luck.

Happy trails :)

Steve-

I have the 40-gal Aero that takes the place of the spare. I love it, have had it for 2-3 years w/no problems. I too like the manual valves 'cause I've had trouble w/electrics. You asked how much it hangs down. On my D250 w/stock exhaust & tailpipe, the lowest part of the tank is the same level as the tailpipe. It has an upward slant (of about a 30 degree angle) 20" in front of the rear face of the bumper, so that at the rearmost part of the tank, it is no lower than the bottom of my stock bumper, so you don't lose any departure angle to speak of. In case yours is not stock, it hangs about 6" below the bottom of the rear fender at the point behind the rear wheel opening. I had them install it, so can't answer installation questions.

Hope this helps.
