Has anyone ever tried these areoturbine mufflers? What I am reading, that they actually improve mileage and performance as well as lower EGT, is almost unbelievable. Do they really work as well as the manufacturer would have you believe. I am thinking of redoing my exhaust and am looking at all possibilities.

I have had one on a 4" system for 3 years and can't really say that it did or did not do as advertised. No baseline to compare. I can tell you that I have never had a drone problem and get alot of people telling me that my truck has a unique sound. More like a big rig and not the school bus sound from a straight pipe and no muffler.

TNesbitt,

We sell the Aero mufflers. The reason why we decided to carry them is their unique internal design and quality. They really do sound very impressive and do a terrific job of reducing drone when installed up front. As for as the claims, well I'd honestly say that shouldn't be a criteria for purchasing them. We'd gladly discuss this on the phone w/ you if you give us a call. ;)

Thanks,

I bought one for my 05, and the only difference i noticed was that the turbo spooled up maybe a tad bit quicker, other than that no MPG increase as they claim and i installed it within 6" of the kitty, it did give me a little drone at about 2200 rpm and it did bark when i stepped on it. i took it off of my 05 and havent decided if i am going to put it on my 07

I would look elsewhere, only because Aeroturbines claims defy the laws of physics. Since when does friction increase airflow? There was a thread on this subject a few years back that goes into great detail.

They don't help a lot on a Cummins, but they do make a difference on a Powerstroke. It smooths out the choppy exhaust inherent to the vee configuration which lets it flow better. One guy here in town put one on his '02 and it knocked a solid 150F off his max EGT.

I put one on my '03 and it helped the exhaust tone quite a bit. . . sounded real good.

I had one on my 04 rc hemi and I noticed that it had a bit more pickup over stock but most likely just sounded like it did.

I have one now on my 06 cummins and I installed it about a month after I bought the truck and without gauges I have no real baseline to compare with.

But I really like the sound on both of my trucks especially the cummins and I have no drone at all (kept the kitty). I would definatley do it again just for the sound. I have the 4040xl with the built in resonator

Hope you noticed the same thing with the TAG:-laf

I'll have to go back and check, I don't remember the Tag claiming to increase airspeed like Aeroturbine does, just straighten out the airflow and reduce turbulence.

I dont remember seeing the AT claim either but it would not surprise me. :)

The TAG claim seems just as dubious to me. They way it has been explained to me, heat transfer not gas pressure is what drives a turbo. If that is in fact true, the TAG looks like a big heat sink to me. I could be wrong though as I am no expert in mufflers or turbos:-laf
