does anyone know the proper way to adjust the afc???? it appears that the star wheel behind my spring was messed with, looking at the motor it was turned all the way in (counter clockwise) thanks in advance for any help.

If you are standing in front of the truck facing the engine, the wheel has been backed off all of the way which will give you more low rpm fueling. I adjust the afc for a puff of smoke at take off with good acceleration. TST has a kit that allows you to dial in the afc for minimal smoke at low rpm and full travel at max boost. Check the archives for lots of posts too.

Thanks Dieselburner for the information. by chance do you know what type of kit this is or what its called???? I dont mean to sound stupid however I am new to diesel's, thanks in advance.
 
It's the AFC spring kit. You may want to talk to TST first - they say it really helps the 5sp but not the autos! Craig

The AFC spring kit DOES help the autos as far as smoke control is concerned. I had to install the med. spring to control smoke. With both the stock and soft springs even a light push on the throttle would produce copious amounts of black smoke. Medium spring produced a good puff of dark grey smoke and lightens up as boost increases, then disappears when boost hits 30 and over.
