Is there such a thing as adjusting the cog wheel in the Afc housing to far out to get more pre boost fueling. Not for sure and was just wondering what some of you had done. I had a suggestion from someone to take the AfC spring out altogether, how do I do that if I want to .

here are several ways of adjusting the afc. The afc is a throttle stop. by moving the housing forward and/or the star wheel, the throttle will travel farther sooner. By removing the spring it takes no boost for the throttle to reach the plate(lots of smoke) also u can remove the whole afc. To remove the spring, just pull off the afc housing, take the screws off the back, a plate comes off, then pull the nut off the back of the diaphram and the spring comes right out.

Another one to try is take the back off of the AFC housing and loosen the 10mm nut and back the set screw totally off, the turn it in till you touch the diaphram, once your there turn it 1 1/2 turns in and lock it down and try that, if you like it give it another 1/2 turn, your preloading the diaphram! I've been playing with that and the star wheel with allot of success a long with higher light throttle shift points.

Higher light throttle shift points

Mr. Fulmer; You state that experimenting with higher shift points at light throttle is something you have been doing. How is this done? I assume these adjustments are needed to be made from inside the transmission pan, and cannot be made externally. Is this the case or can adjustments be made with out dropping the pan. Mine shifts into 3rd lockup around 30 MPH under light throttle conditions, which I don't care for very much. I do have the DTT transmission and TC. Please explain your comment. I should call Bill K. but just haven't taken the time during the week to do so. Thanks

I had it set before to light throttle shift at 1400-1500 and that was fine, but after I built the Twins I noticed I would have to be easier on the throttle so I wouldn't smoke folks out, so I raised them to 1700(1-2) 1900 (2-3) and 2000-2100 (3-4) under normal gaining speed throttle... goofing off or being slow is less, keeps the motor up in the air flow range and the Turbos are right there if needed. I did it first on the V/B but today I've been playing with an external adjustment I fabbed up till I get it were I want it then the next time I have the pan off I'll adjust the screw.

afc

Hi all not trying to steal post here but ive played with star wheel and small allen screw on back and slid housing forward and still not much smoke. (Stock plate, not moved, new pump 10 000 km) Any ideas why no smoke?

ya, because u have a stock plate in the stock position. all u're doing is getting to stock fueling faster, instead of getting to big fueling faster. if u go with a plate u'll see a lot more take off and a lot more smoke than u have now
