I've read the post about the afc spring adjustment and have decided to go for it. I've got an 8mm allen wrench on the plug, but can't get it to budge. I've tried turning both ways with no luck. How much pressure did you folks have to put on it to loosen it? Is it threaded regular, or reverse?

Thanks in advace for the help.

It has normal right hand threads. They are frequently stuck. You can try driving the truck around for a while to heat it up a bit. Sometimes that helps.

If that doesn't work, make sure the allen wrench is in all the way and beat it loose with a hammer.

Good luck

Tap on the plug moderately with a hammer to help jar it loose. Then put on an 8mm Allen key with a piece of tubing for more leverage and turn until you fear the allen will break!

The wife's '95 wasn't hard at all to break loose, but this past weekend I installed a plate in a fellow NW BOMBers '96 and his was impossible to break loose. I ended up having to get out the longest wrench I had for more leverage.

I chickened out on trying to get mine out until I had the housing off and placed it in my vise. Seemed to go easier that way.

Mine was like that too. Even when i got it loose it was tight. I gave a tiny squirt of liquid wrench, let it sit for 10 minutes and yanked again. It finally came free. When I took the housing off a couple weeks later I did not see any sepage of the liquid wrench into the inside in case your wondering.

Thanks!!!

Thanks guys for the info. Drove her around the block, and then a few( 20-30) taps with a hammer and it came off. I Adjusted the star wheel all the way to the engine. I gained about three pounds of boost and could harly notice any smoke under a hard throttle.
