Just a few questions to you guys with experience with the AFC spring kit. What exactly does it do, and should it be installed when installing a TST power kit? Is it a simple installation? Thanks in advance. Ron...

Ron's Ram, The AFC controls the amount or level of fueling to your engine before the turbo spools up and starts creating boost. TST recomended the medium spring for me when I purchased a #11 plate from them. The installation is easy. BTW the #11 plate really woke up my trucks performance #ad

One word of caution, bombing is very addictive! #ad
Once you start you'll soon be looking for more HP #ad

RON'S RAM, use of the spring kit is dependent on the plate usage. I have a '96 auto, and am installing a #6 plate (250/635). Mark at TST said he does not think a spring kit is required for less that 300 hp in my application. Check with him, you might save yourself $35.

Ron,

I used the light spring from the AFC kit when I installed the #11 TST plate. I didn't find it all that easy but I'm not an ace mechanic either. TST's instructions are very good. If you follow them closely, you can do it. Removing the breakoff screws is the toughest part.

I have a little smoke when I goose it but it disappears when the boost is built up. By the way, my clutch slips with the #11 plate at peak torque. The only question is which higher capacity clutch do I get. R. ebel is right -- you always want more power! #ad

Thanks for the reply's. I was thinking of the # 11 plate for my 97 5sp. Just wondering if I'll have any problems going through emissions with it.
Rebel; Was the centerforce needed because of the # 11 plate, or was it just time?

Ron's Ram, It was time, Got stuck really bad once upon a time and had to sacrafice (slipped the heck out of it and it got so hot some of the lining came off the disc) the clutch to get out! As long as you don't abuse your clutch with the #11 plate you should be fine #ad

Simple install and worth the extra few bucks. You can dial in the fuel mixture to eliminate heavy smoke and still get strong performance. Light spring gives more low rpm power with heavier smoke. Medium spring gives better smoke control and is recommended for high power plates and/or injectors.

Any body know the difference between the light springs sold in the AFC Spring kits and the stock spring?? Are they basically the same or is the "light" spring slightly heavier than stock??

Thanks... .

The aftermarket springs are longer than the stock ones. It also has more coils on it so stretching the stock spring to make it longer is not the same thing.
