Ok I took the access bolt for the AFC star wheel out yesterday to see what the star wheel looked like. To me it looks like its already all the way forward with the spring behind it. Does it always look like that even with adjustment? I didn't turn it or anything just kinda get'n acquainted with my CTD a little more.

I have been planning on this for a while, and just want to know what to expect from any of your guys who have messed with yours. I figure more smoke definately, but I won't notice a power difference will I? Thinking of ordering TST's spring kit, but I'd have to get in there to the plate first! Hmm... maybe when I got to slide the stock plate I'll put in the spring kit. Any difference noticed with the spring kit?

The main thing I am concerned with is hurting my mileage. I live in the country so I drive a nice little bit everyday, and my truck already had 33 - 16. 5's when I bought it so I can't really sacrifice any more.

Just wanted some personal experienced advice on this. Thanks.

To get more out of it slide the housing forward but from the looks of you sig you still have the stock plate and housing setting. Hands down I would have to say get a plate kit and be done with it www.piersdiesel.com has them or get one from TST doesn't really matter.

I would love to go ahead and install a plate, but I don't know how old my clutch is. I bought the truck Aug. 20th last year, and the guy I bought it from can't remember when they did the clutch. Tried to say they didn't, but pulling his horse trailers for 123,XXX miles on the factory clutch? No way!

I would love to get a #10, but I know I'd roast my clutch. :{ And when this clutch fail's I'm going to order a South Bend Con O, since I'm not going after 400hp or anything. Still being a 19 year old with truck payments on this rig though I can't afford to just lay down $1,000 for a plate and clutch.

I will probably settle with a #11 plate whenever I do, but my plans for now are to just slide the stock plate forward till my clutch goes. When the clutch goes (and after my wallet comes off life support) its BOMB's away!Oo.

You could go ahead and get a plate. Your right foot will protect the clutch. The more I bomb, the better my mileage seems to get. Adjusting the aneroid spring will give you a little more fuel at low boost and give you more pick up. The spring kit will also help performence.
