AFE Air Intake

I am looking for feedback on increased cab noise (if any) when and AFE Stage 1 Air Intake is installed on an otherwise stock '04 305/555.





'04 Quad Cab, Short Bed, Silver Metallic, 48re, 3. 73 gears, tow mirrors, Westin Platinum Step Bars, Line-x over the rail, MOPAR splash guards, Undercover hard tonneau.

Just put on on my truck, can barely tell the difference, don't have Torque tube, just the AirBox...

There is some increased cab noise but as long as you keep the factory piping going to the turbo it's not bad. However, if you throw a Torque Tube into the equation then the noise increase is quite significant. I didn't care for the increase noise associated with the TT so I removed and sold it.

Just like Rosco said, with a torque tube the noise increase is more. I really like the noise increase though, in my opinion the increase in noise is all turbo. I notice the noise is more pronounced when you are accelerating and decelerating while driving in city traffic. On the Highway its not too bad while the cruse is set, but the minute you let off the throttle you can hear the turbo whine!

AFE's impact on mpg?

Does the AFE have any bearing on fuel mileage? If you have an AFE and saw a mileage increase, how much of an increase was it?

My BD X-intake comes with the PG7 filter. Fit is a pretty tight one, but it works. BD's version in a lot cheaper than AFE's and uses the same exact filter. Without flow adapter (silencer removal) I think it was $275, With pipe $315. Looks and sounds great.



I haven't noticed any increase in mileage, nor have I seen a reduction in EGT's. Kinda disappointed with the EGT's. I might sell mine and buy K+N FIPK. Dad's got my old one(KN) and it seems to filter just fine. No dust on inside of intake pipe.



Anyways, as far as sound goes... It's louder than stock, but not bad at all and I've got the empty pipe to replace the silencer. I would imagine the TT is louder though.
