Does anyone know of any group purchases planned for the AFE Bladerunner ?

It should improve mileage I would think, just hate to lay out $ 379 when I could spend it on a tank of fuel and a cup of coffee. On the other hand, in my situation, 2 MPG is $7,000 a year. If I can get this spreadsheet to upload, you can see what yours will do.

7k a year... how many miles are you driving. that is a lot of money to save. it only saves 16-20$per tank. that means you would have to fill up 350 times a year to save 7K. That is drivin 175,000 miles a year. you sure your numbers are correct? IF your drive that far then ya its worth it.

Well if he does 50k ayear witch is damn near what i do. and if it brings his miliage up say from 15 to 17 then it about 2k saved. And if he get lover milage the saving are higher. I would look at some of the less expensive one out there that seem to do aswel as the afe for less.

What makes you think this product improves MPG at all? I have the CFM+ on my truck and did not realize any MPG gain. It makes the engine more responsive and lowers EGT's but this is the first I have heard anybody claim and MPG improvement, especially as high as 2mpg:eek:

As with most mods... ... ... ... ... if it runs better we normally drive it a bit faster negating the possible gains. Some people have enough love for mileage they can pull off that feat

Are you saying that solely adding the BladeRunner will give a 2MPG gain? Has this been documented in a controlled test environment? If 2 MPG's can be had, why doesn't the factory put it on?

AFE= no mpg increase for me.

I lucked out and paid $240@ FourWheelParts for mine. Initially noticed a performance gain but like a lot of mods, you're used to it within a few miles. Nice looking piece but no mpg increase for me either.

Trust me, I have been trying very hard to get the very best milage my truck is capable of lately. Still no improvement. Slowing down helped, running the box on its lowest setting helped. I just doubt the intake does a whole lot for mpg.

Let me put it this way... ..... I have done a ton of stuff to make my truck better for the way I use it including some very heavy tall tires that can take what ever I throw at them. I still get the same mileage as stock... ..... but do those same fuel eating mods with out the others that make it run better and your mileage would be in the toilet. My last trip pulling the trailer at 75mph it pulled 13. 5mpg. To me that is impressive. What part did the intake add... ... who knows, but I do know my low-mid rpm is stronger(dyno proven) and that is where most of us run these engines 1500-2000 for mileage. My EGTs are great even pulling at those low rpms.

This is with no additional fueling or timing... ... ... ... . stock software. That is a nice gain.

2 mpg? You already have a 2wd, so you get 2mpg better than the 4x4.

A little timing change to the injection would give you a small gain.

In addition to thinner oils, higher tire inflation, the usual stuff, and of course slowing down, aerodynmamics and lower cruising rpm are the only remaining ways to improve mpg.

I have yet to see a picture of a truck with a low air dam and side skirts, no bug shield, a bedcover, or shell.

If you tow, a properly molded aerodynamic trailer. Most trailers out there are a joke, with sharp edges, especially on the front, abrupt surfaces, things done for economy of construction, not fuel.

I know when I see Bob4x4 post something that whatever this guy says is probably right but I am still looking for the 2mpg gain! I know the AFE frees up a little power, especially in the low to mid rpm range, but the graph also shows an actual slight loss of power from 2300 rpm on up.

As the original poster to this thread, I appologize to all. The cell in the speadsheet that I had looked at was actually what I used in a year, NOT the savings. I'll just put cash in the retirement fund and additional principal on the mortgage and keep the foot out of the throttle on the mountain pass everyday and it will payback quicker than accessories.
