Question About Scotty Air 11

Rotella T causing low fuel mileage?

Has anyone with an aFe air filter with heat shield put the Amsoil dual bypass system on their 24V by the passenger side battery?

I am having trouble, because it doesn't quite fit due to the larger air filter moving the air filter tube in the way. Can I just mash the air filter hose in a little or will it rub a hole if it has pressure against the oil filter?

Maybe some of you have pictures or suggestions of where else I can put the system.

I have that setup. It may depend on the mount you are using for the bypass. I am using one of Ted Kidd's mounts and it just barely fits. It just makes the hose hard to get on at the heatshield because it can't line up just right but in the end the hose deformation is very minimal. The hose does ride tight against the corner of the filter block but after 2 years the hose has not shown any signs of wear in that area. Some have mounted the amsoil unit underneath the front crossmember at near horizontal. Member "John" I think has it that way you might try asking him. There is also another member who had pics of his crossmember install but can't remember his name. You might try doing a search on amsoil dual bypass.

I have the AFE and amsoil dual bypass. I used John's battery box and billet adapter. I don't remember the name of John's company, CWFF or something like that. I had to add a 1" spacer block under the AFE filter in order for the AFE to clear the corner of the bypass housing. The Turbo hose does bearly hit the corner of the bypass housing. See the pics at my web site. http://www.cliffandsandy.com/amsoil_dual_bypass_oil_filter_pa.htm

Hope this helps

jwatt,

Are you using both amsoil filters in the dual set up or one fleetguard and the amsoil bypass? I'm looking into purchasing this set up.

You can use the fleetgard filter on the dual filter setup but you need to get another thread adapter for the by-pass filter in install in on the other side to make it work. That is how I got mine to work. :)

AFE clearance

Cliffman

I'm glad to see you solved the clearance issue with the AFE and my battery bracket mount -- your pictures look good.

I just finished building a dual by-pass mount for the"03"s -- No air filter problems there.

Thanks

I have been out digging potatoes with the family for a few days, and haven't been around. When I get a minute, I will post a picture of the way a cummins should look, farming dune buggy style...

Scott - yes I am using the filters that came with the setup, but haven't had time to install.

Cliffman - I probably will put the spacer under the shield as shown in your post, looks great!!!

The help on this website is so appreciated. Thanks a million...

:)

JWatt,

Be careful not to go too high with the spacer. I used a 1" piece of ACX plywood and it's right on the hairy edge. It does barley hit the hood insulation when the hood is closed:eek: Makes for a better air seal:D
