I have read in past forums that people were having problems getting the AFE replacement filters to seat in the stock airbox.

I installed one this weekend with no problems, this is what I did

1. Spray some silicon spray on the rubber lip of the air filter

2. Disconnect the air intake tube fron the airbox

3. Disconnect the air monitor plug

4. Place new air filter into the air box

5. Angle the air box, so the 3 plastic tabs fit into the slots, then lower the top to the air box.

6. Reconnect air tube, and monitor plug.

7. Enjoy Oo.

The only problem I ran into with the first generation? is the radiator over flow and the air box lid are fighting for the same position. The filter itself fit the base of the box fine. the lid also fit fine after moving the base for clearance behind the radiator.

This was done on the 3rd GEN CTD. Yes the overflow was getting in the way, but if you tilt the lid up and back a little, she went right in. Oo.

Greg I did the install on a 2003 CTD

I believe the two air boxes are different. I had to remove the air intake hose fron the air box to the turbo. I tilted the lid back and up. There are 3 or 4 tabs on the on the lid. by getting the first tab into the slot, and working to the next from the back to the front of the lid. , Then the lid will clear the filter minder. I hope this helps.
