hey guys I have seen that many of you have an open air box I was wanting to know what my choices are when picking one? do some of you use a 94-98 system and just make it work in our tucks?

Made up my own using some 4" aluminum intake tubing, a couple rubber 90s, and the aFe ProGuard 7 filter from the '94-'98 truck kit. Fell madly in love with the sound the 1st time I drove it around the block too! (lay into the loud pedal real hard and then abruptly drop your foot off of it and it sounds like a super stock pulling tractor shutting down at the completion of its run    ).

Scott... . what is the "ASA" modified air intake? How is the filter secured to the intake pipes?

I'm running a K&N with the stock box and am thinking of getting some better breathing capibilities.

Another option is to drill the stock box... .

you want to connect with sam (user name: samsrams). he makes the air intake you are wondering about, or at least he used to. i am not sure if he is currently manufacturing them.

i believe the "asa" makes up sam's initials, but that is just a guess. my pharmacist would tell you it stands for acetylsalicylic acid (aka aspirin), but i don't think that's what sam had in mind.

if you want photos, check out sam's gallery... or my gallery for that matter. i think i have a photo of the asa modifieds air intake in there.

by the way, the sound resonation is music to my ears. i can't get enough of that whistle when i'm driving! thanks, sam! :D

cheers,

roy

... acetyla... acetamethyl... . ascteyl-C3PO... . holy cow, now I'M not even sure what it stands for??? :D

Hi guys - sorry for the delay in replying. JL - To answer your question, the short story is yes - the BHAF's will fit our Intakes. Generally any filter that has a 'clamp-on', 4" i. d. rubber seal will fit the Intake, and fortunately the BHAF's are just that sort. Though I don't sell the BHAF's, PDR does.

I am starting up production again this month, probably within 2 weeks. The shop is nearly ready to fire it all up. Best bet is to drop me a line or send me a Private Message (PM) so we can go over the particulars and I can go into detail about the Intakes. Per the TDR guidlines all of the 'business' information has to be done off line. Evenings and weekends are generally the best time to call.

Thanks for the good words too fellas!

- Sam

Funny... I was at a company learning center class a few years ago about plastics taught by our corporate polymer expert ( :-laf )

A the start of the class he put some initials on the board to see how much we knew... he called it "name that polymer".

The only one I knew was PVC... . :-laf :-laf

(He also has ABS but I knew it wasn't brakes)

Sorry to digress
