I dont want to wast the 100 bucks or whatever it is for the TT tube if its not going to do more than what I already have. has anyone made there own with 90 degree elbows and a tube. could you use plastic( probley melt). if any can help thanks.

The TT will definitely give you more sound. It resonates a bit, too. Maybe you could find a used metal TT, as the new ones are plastic and may not carry the sound as effectively.

I do not see the TT having any better ability to carry more air.

The other costly option is to sell what you have and get the Stage II with the 5" filter... Super loud.

Another option is to get the Mac products intake. It uses two 45 degree silicone bends and an aluminum tube, giving the sound an easier path to travel. It's only about $250 for the whole intake including the tube.

I have the TT and it does make more turbo whine, now if it is worth the 100 bucks I don't know.

many on here have talked about making their own out of pipe and elbows but I dont think they used plastic pipe. if memory serves they used either aluminum or 4 inch steel that would be used for exhaust. using plastic for the most part is basically what you have now with a cleared out factory tube except the new one would not have any of the accordian walls.

My personal opinion that if you are wanting the TT for the sole purpose of the turbo whine and 100 bucks is at all questionable to you then you will probably end up dissappointed afterward.

I have the afe and the TT on my 03. On my 05 i took out the inside silencer ring in the stock tube with the afe air intake and the sound is close. The 03 with the TT is only slightly louder and i mean slightly. The TT is not worth the money to me. Just the afe and the silencer ring removed is good and your turbo sound is louder for sure.

Just to make sure Is the silencer ring the long plus shaped plastic inside the stock pipe from the the back of the airbox to the turbo? If thats it then thas what i removed.

I have had the Stage I and metal Torque Tube for almost a year now. With new SPS66 turbo the sound is awesome. I was happy with it until I actually saw the Stage II installed on another truck like mine at the performance shop. Now I have serious FILTER envy and have order the Stage II. After it is installed I will have used Stage I, metal Torque Tube, Pro-Gaurd 7 filter, standard filter and blue Pre-Filter for sale. I will post in classified ads.

That is the intake baffles. The silencer ring is a silver piece of steel shaped like a doughnut that is placed inside the turbo, it is held in by a snap ring.

Is the silencer ring easy to remove? If so how and does it benefit in anyway. . like louder turbo sound... faster spool... better flow? TIA... Jake

Just a louder turbo sound. Thats it, no performance gain. If you have 2 small flathead screwdrivers, you can remove the snap ring and take out your silencer ring.
