Well, I finally got my intake installed yesterday. It was an easy installation, and the instructions were great. I bought my intake from NADP out of Edmonton, AB www.nadp.ca I got the Proguard 7 filter, prefilter, and a tube that NADP sells to eliminate the silencer.

Pictures can bee seen in my reader's rig section, and here are a few of my observations:

It could be a little shorter, there is a noticeable larger gap between the hood and fender on the passenger side.

I was expecting the turbo whistle to be louder, but it is loud enough so I can enjoy the sweet music it produces. I am quite deaf, however so the whistle may be offensive to some.

The truck is more responsive, and it feels like I picked up a few horsepower.

The egt's are down about 75oF. I use to see about 1350oF on acceleration runs. It now stays below 1275oF until about 100mph, then the egt's creep up over 1300oF.

When I checked the filter minder it was still getting sucked down about halfway, just like a new paper filter. I took off the prefilter and went for a few more runs the filter minder got sucked down slightly less.

Since the filter minder gets sucked down as far as a new paper filter, I am wondering if the performance increase I noticed is just from replacing the used (almost in the red zone) paper filter?

Overall I am still happy with the kit, and as long as oil analysis proves that the filter is doing its job, I will keep the intake on.

Has anyone dyno'd before and after filter install? I am curious if the power gain is just perceived from being able to hear the turbo spool...

Carl, did you modify your your tube to your turbo? I've got the AFE and knocked out the baffles and ribs in my tube and removed the silencer ring..... Talk about a sweet sounding turbo noise!!! I want to get a torque tube eventually but it's just fine for now.

Hawkeye,

I have the TT and wasn't that impressed with the noise increase. It was minor with the addition. Knowing this, I would have done the baffle removal on the stock tube. I have heard some friends trucks that did that and they sound just fine. Use the money elsewhere. Unless you just like the TT's looks over stock, after all, it is your truck.

I have the afe with torque tube and removed the s-ring and it sounds great, I also noticed a way better responce with the new set up. My original filter is very clean and was not in need of replacement. So I believe the afe kit definatly made a difference. Oo.

The pro guard 7 has an extra layer of filter material which will reduce the air flow from a stock filter. I have seen the filter minder sucked way down with the pro guard 7. If you want the extra air flow the regular AFE filter is better. The PG7 will clean the air better though. AFE actually says this on the web site, but its hard to find.

Hawkeye 04, I replaced the silencer tube with a 5. 5" tube as shown in my reader’s rigs section. I left the silencer ring in.

231jasonS, I went with the proguard 7 and outer wrap, because I didn't want to make any sacrifices in filtration. I still asumed that the cone proguard 7 would flow better than the stock filter.
